Week 14 Day 3 Purple

Today my Eric flew out super early and made it home sometime before dinner. He flew in a little later than planned, but he never has much luck with his Dallas flights. This wasn’t bad in comparison. Tonight we had steak fajitas for dinner. I made way too many, just another reason that I am home sick because I had no one to invite to dinner. I only know how to cook for an Army, I blame my mother who actually needed to be able to cook for an Army, hence her habits.

I sorta cheated today and wore a burgundy dress. There is the guy at work that I have figured out his clothing pattern and I knew that he would wear burgundy today so I thought it would be sorta funny to prove a point. It was really funny and he laughed too!

Side Note: Just because you get to the post office before 5 doesn’t mean that you made the cut off. I wasn’t serviced until 5:11 means that my letter will not be delivered next day until Friday. I tried to tell the post office lady that it wasn’t my fault that she didn’t get to me until 5:11, but she really didn’t see it my way. That is certainly going to be a fun one to explain to the “Big Boss Man” tomorrow.

Busy Busy week! After work today Eric and I went to meet up with some friends for happy hour and later a bite to eat. Eric and I were both glad to have a break. Although we didn’t stay too long because our Lukie Boy doesn’t like us to stay out too long without him. Which of course thinking about Luke being at home with no one to let him out makes me miss living by my parents who often took care of our little boy. This week I have certainly been a little home sick after Mom leaving. Being a little home sick is good though because it will inspire us to make the trip home more often.

My outfit is continuing to prove that I often dress casually on Thursday’s. I think it is because Thursday used to be my Friday, I am still wishing that that will soon come true again.

I am thankful that I wore pants today. I had to schlep back and fourth from my cube to my new office many times today. Who new I had that much stuff. (Mostly files and documentation, I write everything down.) I am officially all moved in to my new office, that has its own window. I wasn’t sure that I would be getting a window office because of way our office is setup, we have just as many none window offices as we do window offices. I wouldn’t say that it is best view, but a view of the parking deck is better than no view at all!

We had a baby shower breakfast this morning for the first pregnant employee this company has every had. Clearly they have not had many female employees in the past. It was very nice and the mommy to be was certainly surprised!

Week 13 Day 3 Pink

Today was the official day that the news of my promotion broke at the office. The “side kick” took it very well. She said that she thinks that I will be great at this position and that she thinks that they need someone like me to organize things. The reality is that I am now her boss so at least she will be nicer to my face from now on. I really do think that things are a little better now that the ring leader of the groups is gone. Sometimes you just have to be patient in life and allow things to work themselves out

Tonight Eric and I went to dinner with some friends. I think that we may have found a good Mexican place. Texas is starting to feel more and more like home each and everyday.

Today I signed my official paperwork to become the supervisor of the “mean girls.” I know what you are thinking…..Karma!

One of the girls actually quit yesterday by leaving a sticky note on the boss man’s desk while he was out to lunch. Such a classy move! I personally think that someone tipped her off about my impending promotion because it is just too much of a coincidence.

I feel very blessed that the head mean girl has allowed me to start off my supervisor role with more of a clean slate than I would have had. It is much easier to manage people that you hire than those that were already in place. I am super stoked about molding my team to fit the company’s needs verses molding tasks to fit the needs of those already in the company.

Couch Update

We still do not have our furniture! “Rooms to Go” came again on Friday and switch out the couches. They delivered the replacement couches that we ordered. One of them is green. They both should be brown. Eric e-mailed me a pictured and I called him because they were different colors! He called “Rooms to Go” and told the girl that he is color blind. They will be coming soon to replace it. Until then Luke has decided that he is a fan.

I realize how awesome my miss-matched PJ’s are, I know you are jealous!

This week is pink week. My Mom was here all weekend. We had a great visit and hopefully she will be sending me here pictures soon. We tried to include her in my daily outfit picture this morning, but we did a horrible job. We were in a hurry and she would not be a fan if I posted the picture that I realized we settled on. Like I said, we were in a hurry so I didn’t check it well this morning.

Happy Friday Friends!!! Today was a fabulous day. I had my much awaited performance evaluation, I worked a half day, and I went shopping at the outlet mall.

My Mom is here from Birmingham, AL for a visit. We are very excited that she is here. I am glad that Eric is home safely from a week in Chicago. I am also glad that I am finally caught up at work from being out sick for a few days last week.

This is the first day that I have repeated an entire outfit! I still wore it differently than I did the first time, but nonetheless it is my first repeated offender outfit. At the price of $6.00 two years ago, I think I have gotten my money’s worth out of this one. Not that I will be retiring it any time soon. I love this dress, 1 – it is super comfy, 2 – it is professional and 3 – because my mom always called it my jungle dress, which makes me smile!

Today’s outfit is one of those that I would not wear if I was not doing this challenge. I am not sure if I should be wearing this one to work, but I did it anyway. I think it may be a little short, a little casual and a little baggy. This challenge is another good way to weed out my wardrobe and I think this dress is going to have to move to the “beach cover-up” section of the closet. I can tell you that I would have never know of work inappropriate this looks if I was not taking my picture everyday!

Week 12 Day 1 Green

We have come full circle, I am starting over with my work week colors. I wore Green on my first week of work. Having been at my job for 12 weeks I am approaching my three month evaluation. Boss man told me Friday that it would be today. If I was not nervous enough, it didn’t even happen. Boss man never said anything. I know that there were a ton of closed door meetings today and that boss man was very busy, but you can not just not tell me anything! I am not good under pressure and my nerves really make things worse. Here’s to hoping that I get to have my evaluation tomorrow so I don’t have to wait any longer, I just can’t stand it!

Even though I am repeating my colors, I do not plan on repeating my outfits. I wore today’s shirt Friday during week 1. That’s why I love this challenge, this is a great shirt but if it were not for green week, I would never wear this shirt. It would just sit in my closet and possibly be worn one time with kaki pants on a un-inspirational clothing day.

Couch progress

The couches are gone. After several failed attempts of donating the couches to a non-profit I resulted to putting them on Craigslist for free. (I just can’t sit at home from 9 to 5 on a day of the non-profit’s choosing to donate furniture. The day that Eric stayed home they never showed up or called to cancel.) Every time I have ever put something on Craigslist for free I have had to take down the post with 5 minutes of posting it. This was no exception. I think that people just sit there and hit F5 every 30 seconds. I was glad to be able to give the couches to someone that needed them. Luke on the other hand was very confused. I think if we weren’t paying close attention he may have left in the truck with the couches! I posted the picture below on Craigslist and I made sure to put, “pets not included!” We have less than a week until “Rooms to Go” comes and makes the switch with the furniture that we most recently picked out. Yeah for progress!

Week 11 Day 4 Gray

This has been a LONG week for me. I haven’t felt awesome, but I can certainly say that I was happy to be back at the office and get back into my daily routine. I enjoyed the comforts of working from home on Thursday, but I can honestly say that I would not want to work at home full time. It was great to be able to spend the day with Luke and Bogo by my side, but I enjoy being able to be around various people on a daily basis. My office employs enough people that even though there are a few mean girls there are still many people at the office that are very fun to be around.

I learned during my “Gray Week” that I have plenty of winter clothes in gray. I personally have many items in gray, but they are mostly winter clothes and/or casual clothes. WHile trying to get usage out of all of the clothes in my closet I picked out this gray striped boyfriend sweater for today’s comfortable Friday outfit. This is certainly a fall/winter sweater, but by rolling up the sleeves I was able to “make it work” in the middle of July.

I got my hair cut over the long weekend. I choose to have it cut to accentuate my curls. I have given up on having straight hair in the Houston humidity. For now I am trying to go with the flow and just let my hair air dry.

Week 11 Day 3 Gray

I am actually wearing gray today, total coincidence. I will not be sharing a picture of my gray track pants and gray Jazzercise t-shirt. I worked from home today and was very successful. I certainly got much more done here than I do at the office. No one is here to interrupt the assignment that I am working on, there is no major distracting background noise and you can not beat the commute. Eric actually worked from home for about the first 3 hours today as well. Luke is certainly a fan and is currently proof reading his letter to our bosses for more work from home days for his parents. As he has certainly not been a fan of the not being able to participate in doggie day care with Grandma, because we kinda sorta moved to far from Grandma and that has certainly cramped his style.

I will be back in the office tomorrow and participating in the daily grind. I can not believe that tomorrow is already Friday, time sure does fly when you are out sick!

Week 11 Day 2 Gray

Today I was at work for about an hour and decided that I was too sick to stay. I am having major sinus issues and Travis decided that he would misbehave in the mean time. No body at the office knows about Travis, so I decided that I should get the heck out of doge before things got worse and I would have to maybe share more than I want them to know. I brought home a bunch of “work” to work on from home, but I slept from 11:00 to 7:00, meaning no work happened. It isn’t a big deal, I just really didn’t want to loose a day with this all ready being a short week. Sometimes life (mostly Travis) intervenes, what can you do!

Hope everybody had a healthy and happy 4th of July Weekend. Cheers to a 4 day work week! Eric and I did lots of chores around the house and then we went to a friends house for a 4th of July picnic. It was a fun and much needed long weekend. We also took time to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary this weekend while trying not to float away in the rain.
