Eric's Granddaddy has been in the hospital.  We are very pleased to report that he is on his way home as I write this.  A few weeks back Granddaddy fell.  The result of the fall was major back pain.  Come to find out he fractured his back.  This resulted in fragments of his spine breaking away from the spinal column. He has one tiny little fracture piece that is in his spinal canal.  For the time being he is going to be sent home in his super fancy back brace.  The plan is that this will help fuse the fragment piece to his spine.  This is the least invasive way to fix this problem.  If the problem is not fixed but he has no pain (which is not true right now) they will not have to do surgery.  If this does not remedy his pain the next option is more than likely surgery.  The doctor seems to think that he is healthy enough to undergo surgery.  (I do not agree, I do not think that a 92 yr old man should have surgery, not that I want him to suffer either, but I do not feel that surgery is an option, that's just my opinion and I am not a doctor.)  With that being said, we are happy that Granddaddy is able to return to his home and his own bed (chair too).  We ask for your prayers for Granddaddy while he continues to heal.

Granddaddy, and Eric, at his 90th Birthday!  I could have sworn that he was only 91, but I keep hearing 92, shows what I know!!!  (Eric's Mother and Grandmother carry the height in the family.)
