What's on TV....

At our house there is nothing on TV, it is not even plugged in!   We have chosen to have our service temporally suspend until Sunday April 12th.  Why you might ask....Eric and I have decided to give up television  for Lent.  Yes, this is a rather drastic commitment for us for Lent.  We traditionally both give up some sort of food item, but not together.  This year we really wanted to do something not only together but something that goes back to the true meaning of Lent.  We are always faithful to our promise of what we are sacrificing but not always faithful to our promise to our rededication to the Lord.  Lent is a time to give up something that is evil to you and taking you away from the Lord and.  A time to refocus your life back to Lord and his teachings.

Our evil is definitely television.  We typically plan our schedule and lives around TV.  I personally watch entirely too much television.  Eric on the other hand is typically watching something on his laptop while watching what I am watching out of the corner of his eye.  We are very excited about what is to come in the next six weeks!

While taking on this task we are sort of going with the flow as this is not something that either of us have ever thought of doing before.  Will it be challenging, YES.  Will we find that we are not nearly as busy as we say we are, shamefully... YES, will we survive, TBD (to be determined)!

The plan, the rules and the goals...

Cut off service!
Donate the money that would have been used for service.
Spend more time together and as a family.
See what we have been missing in ourselves and the world.
DAILY TIME WITH OUR LORD, as we owe him this, he did die for us!
We are allowed to watch TV at the gym, but only when running, not during warm-ups.
No reformed plans of suddenly wanting to be at the gym for 6 hours on Saturday or three hours each night.
We are allowed to go to the movies but we can not substitute the TV with a nightly flick.
Most importantly to submerse ourselves with Lord and develop habits that we will continue through out all months of the year not just for Lent.
