Covered Bridge 5K

This weekend Eric and I went up to his parents house in Bloutsville, AL.  The town hosts a 5K every year called the Covered Bridge 5K, during the annual Covered Bridge Festival.  The 5K is not over a bridge nor is it covered.  It did however have a large hill that we got to run up (slowly).

Eric actually ran this particular race five years ago when it was the first annual Covered Bridge Run.  This race has always been his best 5K time overall.  This year he was able to beat his best time.  He now has a record 5K pace of 22:25.  Beating his previous Covered Bridge 5K time of 22:55.  This is now his new personal best record.

I was able to beat my personal best time as well, which was my last race.  I was able to shave 1 minute off of each mile.  For the Komen, Race for the Cure 5K, I ran in 36 min and some seconds and for the Covered Bridge I was able to run 33:34.  Still many minutes behind my husband, but still improving my personal time with each and every step.

With our last 5K post Eric and I mentioned that we are not able to actually take pictures because we are now both participating in these races.  Cathy, Eric's Mom came along to cheer us on and take our pictures.  It was nice to have someone specifically there to cheer us on.

Eric and I after the race.  I am still a bit worn out, Eric finished over 10 minutes before me.
