Update on the Irvin's
So here's the situation, I was supposed to blog about vacation day 2, today. The only problem is all the pictures are on Cassie's laptop. So, I figured I'd pass along a status update for those keeping tabs on us.
Housing:
We are still living in our beautiful house in McCalla. Recent updates to the house have included some new rocking chairs. Cassie, being the beautiful and wonderful wife she is, found a great deal on some online (some assembly required). After sitting in their boxes for a few days, she decided to motivate me by putting them together herself. I felt horrible, but wound up helping her finish putting them together.
The only problem with the chairs, they have a tendency to only go back a little, and forward a LOT. They are almost like the lift chairs older people use. We thought we had the bottoms on wrong, but they won't fit together any other way.
We are still Real Estate Investors. We've decided instead of telling people we are stuck with two houses and payments, it's a lot easier just to call ourselves investors. That way it sounds a little more planned.
We've actually gotten a few bites off of posting the house on Craigslist. I'm not sure if any of you ever use Craigslist, but it's a great website. It's how my in-laws, found their exercise bike and how Cassie found her fun-job at the Golf course.
Also on the note of housing, I have a quick story for you all. This is more of a confession...
When I was younger, my dad never made me cut the grass. My brother had to do it a few times, but I lucked out. When the day finally came to have to cut the grass, I probably spent more time trying to get out of it, than if I'd just cut the darn grass. First, I tried doing circles and other odd patterns which seemed to make him take over and get me out of it. The next time, I lifted up the blade to where it wasn't cutting anything and just put tired marks on some lines. After he spent several hours resharpening the blade he cut it himself. Finally, I found that chopping off sprinkler heads did the trick and I was never asked to cut the grass again.
Sorry Dad.
So when we lost our yard guy, I found myself having to cut my own grass. I had to admit, it wasn't that bad. Of course only having a small yard, I was able to do it all in a short time. So that's why I bring up that story.
Health
As always, I'm doing fine. Just a few sore spots from flag football. If we were better, I'd post more on that, but as it stands, it's a lot like watching the Colts play the Blountsville Elementary Pee-Wee All-Stars.
Cas has been doing much better, now that they have her on the new medicine. As a matter of fact, the only times she's had any problems have been when she's missed a pill. That hasn't happened a lot, but it's really good news because it tells us it is working. It's been several years since we've had so many consecutive days of feeling good, so we're looking forward to many more.
Career
Well I saved this one for last, because it's been kind of a touchy subject.
After nearly 2 1/2 years of working for Regions, I will be leaving on July 3rd. I've accepted a job at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama. It was a tough decision for us, but it seemed to fit everything else that has been going on in our lives. The banking industry is very dynamic, and after moving to Montgomery with them, then back to Birmingham, and having the prospect of being moved again in the future, we determined that it was best for us to accept an opportunity that allowed us to take the next step in my career, and bring a little more stability to everything. Plus the pay is nice
I will be returning to my true passion of IT Security.
Well that's the short update for now. I hope to return to the regular scheduled vacation blog tomorrow...or the day after

Lots of good information. I am glad you are changing jobs if it gives you more job stability and lets you stay in the neighborhood. I am very pleased with Cassie's health improvements and your mowing stories were humorous. Tina
